The Whorled

Rachel Satterfield

Anticipation

My bowl is empty. I am anticipating what it will be filled with during this Solar eclipse in Cancer (my sun sign), solar return (new moon baby), and Mercury retrograde in Leo (my moon sign).

I honor my mom and her pursuit of her dreams during this eclipse. I honor myself and my relentless radiance and resilience as I begin year 38 on July 3rd. I honor my past and future self by remembering my aspirations as a high school grad headed to university (class of 1999!) and how that same cycle is emerging 20 years later as I enroll as a graduate student in Somatic Psychology for fall 2019.

I am excited to experience what’s next!

Nubia Teixeira says “Beautiful Rachel holding the Patadgraha Mudra- Begging Bowl Gesture- one of the symbols of faith and humility. Shiva himself comes down from his abode in the highest of the Himalayas to the feet of Mother Annapurna to beg for nourishing food. The begging bowl symbolizes the alms that we patiently wait and hope to receive from the spiritual realm. One day at a time, receiving what comes our way, we patiently strengthen our faith. We learn to take just what we need and we pray that “esential nourishment” will be available to all beings of this abundant earthly plant. Jai Ma!”
